On December 5–8, 2024, NCBE held meetings for 8 of its 10 policy committees in Washington DC. NCBE’s policy committees meet regularly to evaluate current policies and practices and to recommend changes and improvements.

The following policy committees met:

  • Character and Fitness Investigations
  • Communications and Outreach
  • Diversity and Inclusion
  • Education
  • Multistate Essay Examination/Multistate Performance Test
  • Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination
  • Technology
  • Uniform Bar Examination

The volunteer members of NCBE’s policy committees consist of practicing attorneys, judges, justices, law professors, and bar admissions staff from jurisdictions and law schools across the country. They are appointed each August and serve through the following August.

At a group gathering of all eight committees on Friday evening, NCBE President Judith Gundersen announced the inauguration of the Diane F. Bosse Award for Excellence and Service in Bar Admissions, in memory of Diane F. Bosse, former chair of the New York Board of Law Examiners and of the NCBE Board of Trustees.
