Welcome to Part Two of this special section celebrating NCBE’s 90th anniversary!
In this section, we offer a broad history of NCBE’s role in supporting the character and fitness process in jurisdictions and a visual retrospective of the Bar Examiner through the decades since its inaugural publication in November 1931. We acknowledge the NCBE staff and provide a snapshot of staff allocation across NCBE’s 13 departments and the growth of NCBE in recent years; the work of NCBE would not be possible without the staff who support its daily operations. This section also includes a “Seven Questions” interview with Erica Moeser, who served as NCBE president from 1994 to 2017, in which she discusses her long history in bar admissions, including her tenure as NCBE president.
The National Conference of Bar Examiners was founded as a nonprofit corporation in September 1931, with the aim of increasing the efficiency of state bar admission boards and for the betterment of licensing processes across the US jurisdictions.
